The theme for the second night of the Mercedes-Benz STYLO AsiaFashionFestival 2016 which was on 5 March 2016 was “Battle of the Sexes”, which began with introductions to the “fighting concept” by Datuk Nancy Yeoh, President & CEO of STYLO International and Chairman of MBSTYLOAFF and Mark Raine, Mercedes-Benz Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
“Tonight’s theme – the Battle of the Sexes, is a playful take on the age-old conflicts and interactions between men and women. Tonight we will witness whether women are truly deserving of the term “the fairer sex” in their bid to come up tops in battle. The Battle of the Sexes theme then continues throughout tonight’s show as we line up 3 menswear and 3 womenswear designers together in a showcase battle of fashion creativity”, said Datuk Nancy Yeoh.
Fashionista Dato’ Kee Hua Chee then took to the stage as referee for a 3-round MMA-styled match after which WONG’s AW 2016 collection of monochrome streetwear, dresses and jumpsuits started off the six designer showcase of both men’s and women’s wear.
This was followed by a 60s mod and military inspired collection by Jo Disaya. Chunky accessory detailing was seen across Jo Disaya’s AW 2016 collection whilst the overall look was clean and sophisticated for the modern woman. Bon Zainal showcased his sharp and dapper, exclusive bespoke tailored menswear, while Benua by Altimet’s segment featured casual clothing and street wear for men with emphasis on sporty graphics, stripes and clean lines.
Award-winning designer IIliza Ho’s featured her unorthodox ideas and uniquely crafted shoulder bags, totes and satchels for women, while Roslan Wilkinson closed off the show with his handcrafted batik block print shirts and comfortable tropical casual wear in voile cotton from his Heritage Collection.
The show was followed by the after-show party at Zouk’s Imperial room.
